Servive Learning Experience

I must say my Service Learning Experience was wonderful. I know what most of us think when we are inform that service learning hours are required for a class, first thing that comes to mind is "Oh no again, I don't have time for that". However, I find the experience of it quite entertaining. For past classes, I volunteered for an agency called Cool Kids Learn which is located in Miami Lakes, but this semester I participated in the mentor-ship program. The mentor-ship is a program that helps ESOL students with their English. As a mentor, I was allow to help a student that was learning the language and was struggling with homeworks and other class projects. Not only did i feel satisfied with my job because i knew i had helped someone but also i made a friend. I personally know how it feels when you first come to this country and you don't know the language very well, it could be stressful and a painful process for the brain because there's so much you are taking in. I wish i had someone to back me up and be there when I had any question. I'm happy i got the opportunity to participate in this program and i encourage and recommend everyone that needs to do service learning to participate in it!

Air traffic controller

 The difficulty of this job is clearly outlined when you first decide to go into that field, I'm sure they were very aware of the lack of sleep and hours that they needed to dedicated to their job.  Before applying for any position, specially one as harsh demanding as an air traffic controller, one should realize the amount of time they're going to have to spend for that field, and the pivotal fact that they aren't going to be able to get as much sleep as before. An air traffic controller falling asleep is a threat that can cause  serious situations, accidents and chaos in any airport.

Education

 The era that we are currently in is contradicting because there are so many resources to aid in obtaining a solid education, yet the sources are considered distracting and are utilized for the wrong purposes instead. I agree with him when he states that forcing individualism in schools is not a secure movement. The best tool for students to learn is sharing and exchanging ideas with other students and work as a team. The greatest inventions and discoveries we have witnessed have been made by teams, groups of people working together t in order to find the unknown, not just a single individual working by himself.

  Starting with all the catastrophes in Japan, to the political scandals in Africa along with Obama's address the other day, the news reports  have been filled with all kinds of bad events. Another recent event that has been quite controversial took place in the athletic department, where the NFL will most likely not hold a season next year because of the lack of economic agreements between players and other NFL associates.

Hamlet: Act V

This play is a very unique version and a good way to revive the classic Hamlet story. Even though I am not fond of this sort of treatment and torture, this murderers got what they deserve.The play was very well rehearsed and humorous but I'm quite surprised that these criminals are able to have such a good and pleasant time in a correctional facility where it's supposed to be the opposite.Aside from this the play was well acted and the characters gave the play a unique and different vibe to the old Hamlet.

Hamlet Act IV

This is a pivotal act in the play. He not only conveys the message he has so longingly wanted to instill in his mother, but he also mistakenly murders Polonius confusing him for King Claudius himself. Because of this act, the rest of the story unfolded the way it did. His mother had enough reason to believe him to be mad after this course of action, and King Claudius made his final decision to send him to England because of the results of his insanity. In this act, the reader is also exposed to Ophelia's mournful lunacy as she realizes her father's death. This act is also important because Laertes is also informed of his father's passing, and begins to accumulate the hate that caused him to eventually cause Hamlet's demise. This act is definitely one of the most action-packed and decisive in the play.

Art and Our Relationship with Technology

Technology is continuously developing more and more and we humans have become very dependent on it. We rely on technology for basically anything, making it predominant on our daily basis. Every years technology improves and new inventions are made to make our lives easier and easier, so much that we cannot live without technology nowadays. What is also amazing is how technology is even becoming part of a very traditional form of art.

24 Hours Without Media

Media plays an important role in our life. I believe that us humans have become so adapt to technology and the media that its impossible to go a whole day without it. Its even more impossible to go without out because school require the use of media which makes it impossible to go without it. Even college students have the chance to finish there course of study without ever attending a college or university. All these shows how fast the media is growing in our society.

Seidler and The King's Speech

This movie sends a very strong message to the viewer. Sometimes we don't watch these sorts of movie because even though they relate to real life events it doesn't catch our interest. I agree with Seidler, back then there was less malpractice between the doctors and they held a better relationship with their patients and therefor the patients would recover faster. Today doctors are less concerns with their patients because they have so many that they don't have time to concentrate on one and therefor have less interaction with the patients. I also believe just like Seidler says that many diseases can be prevented by us just by eating healthy and doing some exercise.

Technology and Our Future

Technology is one of the fastest things thing in the world. Technology is growing so quickly that in 2013 there will be an intelligent computer that more intelligent and faster then any human being. Very soon robots and machinery will start taking over the positions and activities that a human is supposed to do. This is already starting to take place as we see more and more machinery being used in the work place. It is clear that technology is in present and will forever be in our future.

Melting Monuments

These monuments look very unique and majestic.The sculptures of these monuments represent they idea of what monuments really are, they are only admire for a little bit but the fade away as time passes.It is impressive to know that these sculptures are even considered monuments given the fact they last only a couple of hours. The people who witness these sculptures are more appreciative of its beauty because they know it would not lass forever as opposed to those sculptures that can be seen always.

Police Molestation

Earlier this week a local police officer, from the West Kendall area department, was found guilty of two charges of lewd and lascivious molestation. I wasn't shocked at hearing this news because it has become a very repetitive fraud committed by many police officers around the county within the past few years. I have seen many officers  that are completely covered in tattoos, something that you don't expect from the citizens that are supposed to set the foundation for how our city should behave.I think a more thorough background check should be conducted carefully when deciding on who to hire for your city's police force.

Parents and their involvement

The foundation of the children is their parents and how involved their parents are in assuring that they complete their assignments and school work.I think this is a smart, remarkable idea from Rep. Kelli Stargel.. The teachers only receive the children for instruction for a few hours of each day. Whatever happens outside of the classroom, which most of their time is beyond the classroom, is up to their parents and caretakers. It is their responsibility to assure that they implement what they learn in school and utilize it to succeed. Parents should realize their importance in their child's life and their role. Their role isn't only teaching ethics, morals, and values, but also to prepare their children mentally by teaching them that school is what is important.

Mammoth Resurrection

I believe the resurrection of the mammoth is a genius idea. If they were to bring them back we could have a chance to study the role they had back then and why they became instinct.This would be a great step forward because it would lead the way to many other cloning and would bring back many other instinct species .Many new amusement parks and zoos can be opened just for the purpose of witnessing these large mammals in person. This would also create much more revenue.

Universe Knows My Name

This radio podcast talked about a variety of topics. It touches several interesting subjects and the speakers have develop the topic thoroughly. The first topic they talked about was the "rhyming events". These are usually rare but there are many incidents in which they occur. The other topic they touched upon about the roadrunner and coyote was also interesting. The coyotes were the main characters because of the fact that it seemed as if the world was against them.

Miami

Miami is the city of dreams, the city where everybody wants to live. It is a metropolitan city and a major leader in culture, finance, tourism, fashion, entertaiment, education, etc. What makes Miami unique is the mix of cultures and backgrounds that it has. When you are in Miami, you can say you are in the United States and at the same time you're not because it has people from all over the world. It is home to numerous entertaiment venues, clubs, parks, theaters, museums, and art centers. Miami's beaches are its main attractions, being visited my millions of tourists the entire year since the climate is 90 percent of the time very warm and tropical. Immigrants come to Miami following the American dream, believing they can achieve their goals and enjoy true freedom. Miami is a city where you will never be looked at as a foreigner, judge by your ethniticy or skin color. It's a unique city which ties up all different cultures together to make it what it is; Magical and amazing.
